Teens Encounter Christ (TEC) is an inter-denominational organization designed to promote Christianity into the hearts of many teens in South Dakota. The TEC program is formed by teams that help give the candidates an opportunity to know God, growth in their faith, and make many new friendships with people wild about Christ!!!.
CrossRoads Teens Encounter Christ is an interdenominational youth ministry that holds three-day retreats in local churches across the Sioux Falls area.
The TEC mission is to present clearly the Gospel of Jesus Christ through the written word, spoken word, music, drama. This message is demonstrated through gifts of service so that, by the end of the weekend, a student will be given the opportunity to accept Jesus Christ as his or her Lord and Savior. If participants are not ready to make a commitment at that time, they will understand God's call on their life well enough to give it ongoing consideration until the time when God moves them to respond.
For those who have already made a personal commitment, TEC will challenge to make a deeper commitment in their walk with Jesus.
No student who seriously partakes in the weekend remains the same. As soon as the candidate walks through the door on Friday morning, he surrounded by a team which provides, love, prayer, friendship, food and much much more. All participants are challenged, and if they accept the message God has put on their hearts, they will walk away changed.
CrossRoads TEC ministry is not in competition with the local churches or their youth groups. We seek only to complement them. TEC seeks to partner with the local Christian youth community by providing a retreat ministry that seeks personal commitment to Jesus Christ, vital faith growth, and promoting active membership in local youth groups. If a student does not have a home church, we strongly encourage them to find one and join. The many of TEC participants end up being the corner stones of the youth programs.
One side benefit TEC had not planned for is the network of Christian friends TEC kids have developed with other churches, high schools, and communities across the Midwest. These students now have another avenue for developing personal friendships to "hang out with"; students who have the same value system as theirs but may not be involved in church youth groups or
Para church ministries at their schools.
